To be posted on your refrigerator door. These are just a few general guidelines.
If food is sticky or hard don’t eat it.


Ice Cubes
Don’t Chew! They will totally destroy your braces.

Hard Pretzels
Bend wires, loosen bands, knock off brackets.

Sticky Candy, Bubble Gum (with sugar)
Sticky goo that pulls off wires and feeds the bacteria in your mouth. Sugarless gum – such as Trident and Extra are all right.

Hard Rolls, Bagels and Pizza Crusts
Bends the wire and knocks off brackets.

Beef Jerky
Tough as nails.

Suckers or Hard Candies
You might weaken and bite them.

Nuts
No nuts of any kind!

Ribs & Corn on the Cob
Cut the meat off the bone and the kernels off the cob.

Pens and Pencils
Favorite exam time food~ breaks brackets!

Popcorn
Little shells get between the gum and the band & will hurt like crazy.

Raw Carrots and Apples
Hard as rocks, these need to be cut into small pieces when eaten.


Some foods may stain your clear or light coloured elastic ties.

When you eat foods that damage your braces you may not discover that problem until hours or days later…Surprise! Loose bands, broken wires, detached brackets cause a longer treatment time. Please note that the most frequent cause of bracket failure is deliberate or careless damage caused by the patient.
